I also picked up a bunch of cheap scrapbook paper to give myself a variety of backgrounds to choose from for my lightbox shots.

This is a nectarine and watermelon smoothie. It was probably the most amazing smoothie I have ever had in my life. :D


And yes, I recycled the red flower from yesterday.

I'm really happy with this shot... With my other camera, the shots were usually too dark and lacked the pop of good coloring. I didn't have to edit at all for brightness/contrast or color :D Just for sharpness!


And a bonus? The top right-hand corner has pretty bokeh :D

Playing with my ISO again, as well as my (limited) aperture settings. I'm still learning what these things are and what they do.



I'm pleased with it as a start; there is less noise, and I have a nice bokeh effect going on.



I also had a very cooperative wasp (Vespula vulgaris?) helping me out. It was enjoying the cool of dusk and our sprinkler, cleaning itself on our raspberry bush without caring how close I got to it.

My school. Not really the best picture, but I'm just happy that I remembered to shoot one real quick. I between when I woke up at 7:30am and when I got home at 11:30pm I had literally an hour and a half to myself.


The "W" is formed out of flowers (marigold and some sort of purple flower I don't know the name of). The rest of the plants you see there are all part of a garden that only contains plants native to Washington state. There are even strawberries there :) It is also a pesticide-free garden.

This was a hard choice for me... I took so many good pictures when Keith and I were walking the beach. Despite the fact that I love my pictures of wild roses and rose hips, I haven't taken many of the ocean this year and decided to go with this.


I took a really cool looking photo of the sun in between those stacks you see on the upper left, but I think I accidentally left my camera in macro mode because it was super blurry :(

My class took a tour of the wetlands on our campus today. It's so beautiful and peaceful out there, I can't wait to go back by myself (after signing in) to take pictures and do my observations in private.

Isn't he beautiful? :)



I went to the zoo today with my Animal Field Behavior class... From now on, I am always going to zoos as early as they open. Not only are there less people (and less knee-biters), but the animals are actually up doing things. I've always been to the zoo from like 12-2 and the animals are always sleeping.


The male lion was pacing his territory and roaring. He came up and rubbed against the glass a few times. My teacher is also a zookeeper for the Woodland Park Zoo, and she told us that they think the female may be pregnant. But they don't know for sure yet.




I have more pictures from the zoo... I'm going to post them in Facebook only for now, since I talk to all of you there anyway :) Expect to see those pictures in a few days.

The "mystery theme" idea didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, but I didn't want it to be guessed right away either. It's a hard theme to choose, and I found that it was really hard to photograph after I got started.

Another scene from my mom's flower garden.




I like this one, but feel that I spend too much time taking pictures in this garden. I think another challenge is in order... I'm not going to take pictures in my yard for the rest of June.



Anyone want to suggest a theme to me? I'm interested in hearing ideas :)

I was going for a soft, faded floral look with the editing on this. Not sure that I like how it turned out, though... I love bright, crisp, sharp images. What do you guys think?

Our tattooed duck. He even has an earring!


I'd like to mention that any rubber duck picture is probably because I ran out of ideas that day. We have so many of them that I know I can go grab one and put it somewhere fun. :D

See the raincoat and umbrella? Yeah. And it was a sunny day. He knows how it goes down here in Washington. :D
